About us
Bricket Wood Care specialises in supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism who may also have a secondary mental health or sensory need in Hertfordshire.
Established in 2016, Bricket wood is a bespoke 6-bedroom Residential Care Home in Bricket Wood called The Uplands.
The bungalow is wheelchair accessible throughout the property and has a new modernised kitchen, also has a small garden with a patio, large dining room and sitting area/lounge.
We aim to make a real difference in everyone’s life by embedding our company’s values into our practice by providing each individual with the right support: maximising their choice, control, and independence.

We want the people we support to live to fulfil, ordinary lives. This means having healthy relationships, a healthy lifestyle and living increasingly independently within their local community. The Uplands may not be someone’s forever home but can support people to develop vital skills and confidence to move into their own home.
Our teams are made up of skilled, experienced staff who have specialised, in depth and ongoing training which meets both mandatory requirements as well as bespoke learning opportunities that meet the needs of the people we support.
We believe that everyone has the right to have choice and control over their own lives. We offer bespoke support packages to then enable people to live the life they want.
Our assessment process explores peoples wishes and goals and we use a strength-based approach focusing on what people can do for themselves and what they would like support with. We consider the number of hours support required, the number of staff, the gender and personal attributes the person wants from their staff team and most importantly, what the person’s goals are in life. this may be learning to budget, becoming more physically fit, going to college or accessing employment opportunities.
Person centred planning helps to guide us on how BricketWood care can support each person to develop vital skills. Staff will support people to create person-centred plans that are dedicated to what the individual chooses to do, what timescale they require or goals/aspirations for their future and how we can set out to achieve it. Even if an individual has communication difficulties, we use a variety of different communication tools, so they can still be involved in developing their personal plan. Our aim is, we want every person we support in our services to live a happy and exciting life with positive outcomes.
